Monday, July 15th, 2008:
This is a big bluegrass festival month. The 37th
annual Smithville Fiddlers' Jamboree was July 4th and
5th. The 31st annual Uncle Dave Macon Days was this past
weekend. I'm proud to say, with the help of the best
backing musicians around, I was able to take back to
back first place wins in the dobro category at both
festivals. Rob Pearcy, Joe Holloway and Chuck Holcomb
helped me at Smithville while Ray Lane and Joe Holloway
helped me at UDMD.
Friday, April 11th, 2008:
Timberline Drive traveled to Owensboro, KY,
Thursday, April 10th, for the 7th annual "Bluegrass
Returns To It's Roots Festival" hosted by the Executive
Inn Rivermont. Each year the prestigious "Battle Of The
Bands" kicks off the opening night of the festival. Out
of eight bands competing with stellar performances,
Timberline Drive succeeded in winning the coveted award.
Monday, March 24th, 2008:
Timberline Drive traveled to Clarksville, TN this past
weekend for the 34th annual State Of Tennessee Old-Time
Fiddlers' Championships. Through most of the day Joel
was busy with the various categories of fiddle
competition. This however paid off for him as he won the
Junior Fiddle category and then went on to win the
Championship Fiddle-Off. Joel was crowned the new
Tennessee State Fiddle Champion for 2008. Later that
evening the band competed and took 1st place in the
bluegrass band category. Visit the
Photos page for
a couple of new pics from Saturday. Also, visit the
Music page to
view a video of the band's performance in the
